Philips Healthcare Ultrasound in China is a leader in development and manufacture of high quality and high performance medical diagnostic ultrasound products to delight customers in China and worldwide. The company is looking for a highly experienced electrical engineer who can be a key member of a fast acting and solution oriented team on Philips Ultrasound Type Test projects for supporting our regulatory requirement testing and time-to-market launches. This position will work in fast-moving business environments where leadership skills of trouble shooting technical challenges and managing project planning are critical for success. Expansion of our Ultrasound business group in China means we have a challenging vacancy for a Senior Electrical Engineer who is prepared to take responsibility for leading our type testing project team to handle the Ultrasound systems regulatory type testing end to end from project planning to finish on all required testing categories including our system’s electrical EMC, safety, and specific functional tests. A strong capability to work closely with Philips Ultrasound key functions that include RA, Research & Development, Manufacturing, and Marketing and with our global BG sites are critical for success.

Your responsibilities

As a Senior Electronic Engineer in Philips Healthcare Ultrasound business group in China you will report to the Philips Ultrasound R&D director in China and dotted line report to the BG Ultrasound General Engineering director; You will work on electrical engineering aspects of completing NMPA Type Testing for our medical diagnostic ultrasound systems and products. Working with both internal/external cross-functional teams of R&D, SC, Regulatory Assurance, Marketing, and liaising closely with Philips key stakeholders and RA team to plan and execute type testing events are required.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Leading as a senior technical contributor in our NMPA Type Testing engineering support team to complete activities in Philips Ultrasound products Regulatory Testing in China. This includes handling and completing type test project’s planning, logistics and configuration planning, executing and completing required NMPA test categories according to NMPA regulation, especially on EMC and electrical safety.
  • Whenever needed, leading the trouble shooting effort as first line of defense in solving challenging technical issues on the system’s electrical components such as EMC, electrical safety, electrical assembly, acoustic, and/or PCBA in collaborating with R&D and other functional team members proactively; This includes analyzing challenging technical problems in electrical components and electrical and other functional testing to identify root causes, and  working with development engineering team in BG Ultrasound for solutions.  
  • Exercising skills and leveraging strong experience in techniques problem solving in electrical engineering components, such as key PBCA, cables, control panel, power support, and/or other components/system modules where analysis and resolving of situations requires a solid evaluation of various factors; Capable of working closely with BG Ultrasound R&D to resolve testing issues and deliver results with consistency and meet NMPA requirement.
  • Understanding technical specifications of electrical components with theory of operations that include adequate and sufficient details for nominal operational functional testing and limits.
  • Capable of effectively communicating and working with Philips Ultrasound RA team members, to interface and work with NMPA test house managers and engineering team for completing type testing activities
  • Practicing solid planning and risk mitigation to best achieve first time right; Apply demonstrated skills to resolve electrical component testing issues on target. This includes coordinating effort from related functions to deliver results on time and on target with capability of planning, scheduling, and tracking progress from start to finish.
  • Working with project management and key team members for sound judgment and making decisions.
  • Pro-actively seeking out, learning, applying and sharing with others new technical skills on an ongoing basis.
  • Responsible for the assigned tasks’ quality of work, reliability, schedule (if appropriate), cost and delegation of tasks.

Your team

You will be working in the Philips Healthcare Ultrasound Research and Development organization in SuZhou/Shanghai, China, also the Business Units of Ultrasound in North America. You will also work with manufacturing/SC team in Suzhou.

We are looking for

We are looking for a highly professional electrical engineer with

  • Requires colleague or Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Reliability and Electrical Testing Engineering, Bio-medical Engineering; A Master degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ year of work experience in the field of Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with solid experience in EMC, Electrical Safety Testing, experience in working with NMPA test house in medical and product testing preferred. Experience in developing electrical components (such as circuit design, Cable, PCBA, and other electrical components/models in an Ultrasound system) for consumer products is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in technical and product problem solving, and in leading a project/small team; Experienced in leading technical team to solve various technical issues in a logical way.
  • Self-motivated, independent with Can-Do attitude. Pro-active attitude and high quality mindset towards your assignment, and is result oriented.
  • Good understanding of modern electrical engineering tools, methods, processes; experience with electrical test equipment, have electrical manufacturing process knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrated history of solid occupational ethics
  • Ability to effectively leading technical projects and operate independently; Strong technical skill for issues resolving and troubleshooting
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Able to effectively communicate and/or present complex technical issues to engineers and managers
  • Requires product-level knowledge of ultrasound systems and some knowledge in a variety of specialties; some clinical knowledge is a plus. Knowledge and understanding of technical requirements associated with area of work and capable of learning how it relates to the final product (e.g., acoustics/materials engineering, transducers development).
  • Proficient in both Chinese & English
