In this role, you have the opportunity to

The Systems Reliability Engineer is a subject matter expert, who is responsible for the technical guidance, support and execution for end-to-end technical and safety risk assessment including design, manufacturing, supplier and field. This role will have the responsibility to collaborate with internal Philips project teams, ensure consistent and effective execution of Design for Reliability and product safety risk assessment activities, identifying needs and providing training for the effective application of the applicable processes and methodologies.

This is a key and critical role within the Systems Design Reliability group. Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:

  • Provide Design for Reliability engineering services to all Philips CC MA internal customers including product quality and reliability goal setting, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), product risk assessment and management, design check & optimization, design verification and validation, qualification and reliability test plan creation, and related problem solving.   
  • Work with Cross Functional teams (CFTs) to lead and coordinate efforts to develop product (both Hardware and Software ) quality & reliability targets and plans, perform analysis & testing, provide technical reviews, and track activities to achieve targets.
  • Develop and deliver training and hands-on workshops in systems engineering and reliability methodologies and best practices like FMEA (usability/design/process), Hazard analysis, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Design of Experiment (DOE), discovery testing, critical requirement identification and flow down.
  • Support the development, implementation and improvement of product safety policies, processes and practices.
  • Assist project teams to analyze the predecessor’s performance by conducting statistical analysis of field data using different software like ReliaSoft, Minitab.
  • Act as technical liaison to cross functional teams in the implementation of the risk management and product reliability processes.
  • Apply Design for Six Sigma (DfSS), DfR and Model Base Systems Engineering principal for robust and reliable design.
  • Ensure compliance with the standards and regulations of IEC/ISO 60601-1, ISO 13485, EN/ISO 14971, and global regulations (i.e. FDA, EU, CFDA, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with the Philips Quality Management System.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by direct manager

You are a part of

The Systems Reliability Engineer position is part of the Philips Connected Care Monitoring& Analytics (CC M&A) R&D organization, reporting to the MA Systems Design Reliability (SDR) Director. The position will focus on providing technical support and execution on system engineering tools and methodologies, product quality and reliability planning, and Design for Reliability (DfR) related activities for medical products.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s (preferred) degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, System Engineering or relevant engineering degree
  • 5 years of experience in medical devices design and development, or manufacturing
  • 5 years of experience in Reliability Engineering or related fields is preferred
  • Application knowledge of design controls and risk management processes in compliance with ISO 13485 and EN/ISO 14971 standards and global regulations (i.e. FDA, EU, CFDA, etc.).
  • Demonstrate ability to lead, communicate, interact and influence effectively at technical levels across functions, locally and globally.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage project and facilitate decision-making process.
  • Biased toward hands-on action and committed to delivering results
  • Proficient in standard office computer tools: Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with data mining languages such as Python, R is preferred
  • Excellent English skills, both written and speaking.
