Job Description

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Develop medical solutions to diagnose and treat sleep and respiratory conditions.  As an electronics engineer in the Philips Sleep & Respiratory Care R&D team, you will utilize combination of electronics and electro-mechanical engineering, research, and commercialization skills.

You are responsible for

  • Working in product development on a combination of developing new products and/or product sustainment for electromechanical medical devices
  • Developing solutions and systems through full life cycle research, feasibility, product design, verification, validation and supporting transfer to production
  • Working with the business and customers (partners and patients) to define and document requirements
  • Generating concepts, prototyping, modeling, testing, and documenting
  • Employing development best practices and ensuring compliance to the quality management system and regulatory standards
  • Promoting innovation, Design for manufacturability, and continuous improvement in the development team
  • Working in an OEM/ODM relationship with manufacturing suppliers
  • Managing the product design documentation (the BOM and the Design History File)
  • Contributing to a culture of lean practices, customer focus, and taking ownership
  • Working with the Quality, Reliability, and Compliance groups, contributing to the development and approval of test plans, including sample size, test methods, and expected results.  Supporting those efforts by resolving technical questions, providing guidance and direction with the support.
  • Conducting the root-cause analysis of design, production problems and consumer complaints.

You are a part of

A global, cross-functional technical team responsible for the design, development, and implementation of electromechanical and wearable solutions.  The Electronics Engineer is responsible to ensure that the resulting solution has the necessary performance to meet customer needs, as well as product cost and quality. 

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Bio-medical, Systems Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical product development team.
  • Demonstrated experience using a structured formal approach for hardware development processes and lifecycle management
  • Experience creating system requirement specifications and architectures to meet the customer and regulatory needs, ensuring standards compliance.
  • Experience of leading the products Safety Risk Assessment discussion for design change or new project.
  • Experience in medical device design and strong medical IEC standard preferred.
  • Methodical problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience in requirements management tool, design quality management tools, risk management tools, and problem reporting/defect tracking tools.
  • Microsoft Software; PowerPoint, Word, Excel
  • Ability to drive solutions and decisions in a cross-functional team environment
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
