Job Description

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Balances current and future stakeholder/business needs and translates these into architectural and technological choices. A System Architecture is a leader who is technically end-responsible.

Helps the teams define and implement a solution which is suitable for current and upcoming features, while conforming to non-functional requirements. Ensures creation and realization of architectures: products, solutions, services and software focusing on architectural and design decisions. Might conduct some development activities.

You are responsible for

  • Responsible for driving harmonization and modular design of product architecture, product family platforms and technology choices in area of responsibility, compliant with the overall HealthSuite Reference Architecture and leveraging common platforms and technology choices.  
  • Defines scope and problem domain in a crisp and structured way: defining the problem with stakeholders and identifying key issues. 
  • Delivers a consolidated (reference) architecture: creating well-defined building blocks/ system options & scenarios; choosing the optimal architecture, leveraging technology and contributing to/driving roadmaps; establishing control points (IP).
  • Ensures solid, up-to-date and usable documentation of the architecture; using methods & tools for a structured approach.
  • End-responsible for the accepted implementation of architecture, by explaining, convincing, deciding; incl. validation and verification; solving issues and learning from them; establishing architecture lifecycle management; and teaming-up for impact.

Acts within the total context, (business, organization, roadmaps, external world, overall ecosystem etc.): driving for convergence; capturing / re-using prior art and in- and external trends; remaining up-to-date with regard to professional knowledge.

You are a part of

A progressive and energetic team that contributes directly to the growth of the business. You have a direct reporting line to the Systems Engineering Group Leader, with Cross-Functional and Product Managers as your key stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master or PhD or equivalent level in a technical profession
  • Experience as System Architect or as senior system engineering or senior develop engineering at least 3-4 years

Desired Qualifications:

  • Has an in-depth understanding of all products and applications within the Product Line
  • Has an in-depth understanding of the technologies involved
  • Has an in-depth understanding of the product creation process and design methods, such as modelling
  • Drives discussions with stakeholders of other departments, such as marketing, customer service, operations, etc.
  • System complexity: Focuses on a low complexity product or a multidisciplinary subsystem consisting of multi components, Time horizon of 3-5 years
  • Studying and reusing of in- and external best practices and by making use of the Architecture Community
  • Participates in Design Reviews and guides development activities in projects
  • Leads innovation with internal partners, mainly on peer level and mostly between technical disciplines and suppliers
  • Negotiations mainly on technical aspects and technical tradeoffs
  • Negotiates integral tradeoffs with multiple internal stakeholders and external parties (suppliers, partners).
  • Deep insight in engineering/ architecture/research
  • Knowledge and experience spanning multiple engineering disciplines (e.g. mechanical, electrical, software and systems engineering) is advantageous.
  • Medical diagnostic industry awareness
  • Prior experience as a lead systems engineer or lead design engineer
  • Evidence of practical knowledge of standards and regulations pertaining to the medical device industry, both domestic and international. This includes but is not limited to organizations such as FDA, IEC, ISO, CFDA, ACR, AAPM, COCIR, MITA and other directives such as RoHS and WEEE. Examples include: FDA 21CFR820.30, IEC 60601-1 and ISO 14971.

  • Influencing skills; Team player; Networking skills; Negotiation skills.
  • Managing uncertainty and complexity.

Functional competencies:

  • Documenting/modeling of the architecture.
