Philips Healthcare Ultrasound in China is a leader in development and manufacture of high quality and high performance medical diagnostic ultrasound products to delight customers in China and worldwide. The company is looking for an experienced general support engineer who will be a member of a fast acting and solution oriented team for supporting our regulatory testing activities and time-to-market launches. This position will work in fast-moving business environments where good skills of providing general engineering support in the team’s daily activities with high quality and high efficiency, and meeting operation metrics is highly desired. The capability to work closely with Philips Ultrasound R&D team members at our Suzhou site, be proficient in operating, maintaining, calibrating our engineering lab equipment and devices, and be effective in executing defined engineering tests are critical for success.

You are responsible for

As a member of engineering group at Philips Ultrasound R&D Suzhou, this position will work closely with the R&D Engineering team members to support daily engineering activities to ensure success in delivering NMPA type testing, and other engineering goals.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Completes assigned well-defined tasks of R&D engineering daily activities on site, including maintaining, performing, calibrating of R&D lab equipment, conducting specified tests under reasonable supervision. 
  • Contributes to maintaining required equipment, tools, SW, utility fixtures, test equipment used in the R&D lab for implementing and completing an assigned assembly of specified components.
  • Facilitates planned training for technicians and other team members for operating the required devices following defined process and procedure developed by Engineering and Process Engineering staff.
  • Works with R&D team member to execute defined engineering tests related to the ultrasound NMPA and other regulatory compliance standards with high technical implementation quality that meets high craftsmanship/manufacturing standards. 
  • With reasonable guideline and support from the R&D and/or BU staff, participates and facilitates well-defined test activities and reports results
  • Participants in supporting NPI and sustaining projects to ensure the delivery of high quality results that meet specified requirement.
  • Participants in drafting NPI products’ test standards and work instructions, provides training of test operators.
  • Participates and contributes to assigned well-defined tasks of process standardization, process improvement and optimization, testing, production and product quality improvement, production efficiency improvement/lean production.
  • Provides input to help improving product reliability, reduction of test failure and engaged in failure analysis
  • Learns, applies, and shares with others new technical skills on an ongoing basis.
  • Helps maintaining lab facilities for sustainable high quality of engineering laboratory experiments and prototyping, maintaining and tracking lab devices’ calibration and maintenance schedule. Keep tracking of the lab equipment allocation, and enforcing the lab management/operating process.
  • Responsible for the assigned tasks’ quality of work, reliability, schedule, cost and completion of tasks on one or more modules. Deliver quality results in assignments

You are a part of

You will be working in the Philips Healthcare Ultrasound Research and Development organization in SuZhou, China, also the Business Units of Ultrasound in North America. You will also work with manufacturing/SC team in Suzhou.

We are looking for a highly professional R&D general support engineer with

  • Required a Bachelor’s degree or a technical college degree or equivalent education background, or with equivalent work experience in relevant field of technical implementation of assigned lab work, medical product testing, general engineering support, and/or assembly of product components.
  • Demonstrated experience in the relevant industry in the field of product assembly and testing, PCBA soldering, cable assembling, soldering, cable and/or PCBA shielding.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in R&D, Engineering lab, or product testing and data analysis in manufacturing and/or product development; familiar with the process of lab equipment calibration and operating, assembly of medical products, production manufacturing and quality management, and product testing
  • Experience and knowledge of engineering testing of medical ultrasound transducers is a plus
  • Capable of use state-of-art lab equipment.
  • Demonstrated history of solid occupational ethics
  • Ability to operate independently with reasonable supervision; has technical skill for resolving well-define lab problems and troubleshooting
  • Able to work within engineering team and utilizes resources to produce optimal results
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Able to effectively communicate and/or present complex technical issues to engineers and managers
  • Proficient in both Chinese;  English with CET-3/4 or better
