Philips Healthcare Ultrasound in China is a leader in development and manufacture of high quality and high performance medical diagnostic ultrasound products to delight customers in China and worldwide. The company is looking for experienced program manager who can be a key leader in a fast acting and solution oriented team on Philips Ultrasound projects to deliver success in acceleration of our China local products’ time-to-market launches, and business success in satisfying our customers need in China market. This position will work in fast-moving business environments where solid skills in directing and guiding the programs activities consisting of multiple and related projects performed by the cross functional and cross sites, ensuring execution is in line with overall strategic goals are critical for success. Expansion of our Ultrasound business group in China means we have a challenging vacancy for a program manager who is prepared to take responsibility for contributing to our business and R&D team to deliver success in our product portfolio and on target releases. The capability to manage team leaders who drive the projects, identify and retiring business and project risks for projects key milestones completion, supervise, selects, develops, coaches and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient completion of the program, and partner closely with Philips Ultrasound key functions that include RA, Research & Development, Manufacturing, and Marketing and with our global BG sites are required.

You are responsible for

As a program manager in Philips Healthcare Ultrasound R&D in China, you will  lead the Philips Ultrasound China local products portfolio and guide the activities of programs consisting of multiple and related local projects to ensure executions being in line with overall business and strategic goals. You will present and report on program and portfolio to members of the Ultrasound Business Management Team. You will mentor the team members who lead project teams and direct the teams to deliver success with the NMPA Type Testing and certification, and launching our medical diagnostic ultrasound products in China. You will be working with both internal/external cross-functional teams and stakeholders of R&D, SC, Regulatory Assurance, Marketing, and also closely with Philips key interfaces and RA team to ensure program success.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Is responsible for leading an Ultrasound China local products portfolio to ensure NMPA compliance and timely launches of the Philips Ultrasound products for their success in China market. Direct and lead complex, integral programs in accordance with agreed conditions on specifications, time, cost and staffing.
  • Partners with China Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Ultrasound Business sectors (General Imanging, Cardiology, Access and Obstetrics, etc) for leading the Local for Local (L4L)  products’ roadmap, strategy, on target execution
  • Is accountable for business success with China local products’ on target release in China market, meeting and exceeding customers’ expectations.
  • Formulates and is accountable for the overall China local products launch program/project plan, in consultation with the senior business leaders, and Management Team members, and other key stakeholders.
  • Builds and maintains the project organization, determining the ways of working, and defining key interfaces
  • Leads and champions our China products on time releases with defined projects and their goals; organizes the resources, and specifies quality standards , mitigate business risks, directs prioritization to ensure on target releases per business goals
  • Manages up, influences BU MT, R&D PMO & senior management in timely basis on status, challenges, solutions activities for executing the L4L portfolio to success
  • Mentors and leads project managers on L4L release projects to deliver key planned milestones on time and on target with quality. Motivates, directs, and integrates multiple functions and staff performing different tasks and with differing priorities and measures of success.
  • Provides significant influence on the funding of all projects and investments in program; Responsible for synergies between sub-projects.
  • Takes on additional assignments to support R&D team expansion in China
  • Deploys Process Improvement, Quality Assurance, NMPA regulation compliance, and makes the project organization efficient and transparent, in line with departmental and project processes .

You are a part of

You will be working in the Philips Healthcare Ultrasound Research and Development organization in SuZhou/Shanghai, China, also the Business Units of Ultrasound in North America. You will also work with manufacturing/SC team in Suzhou and North America

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a customer-first attitude and the following

  • Fluency in English and Chinese
  • Requires MS. or equivalent level in a engineering, technical management, or related professional field,
  • 8+ years of working experience in program management,
  • Strong knowledge and experience in medical and/or regulated industry, track record in working with NMPA regulation area effectively is preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership and team management and planning skills, solid track record in leading program management & deliver business success.
  • Excellent business communication skills, strong capability in effectively communicating with business management team and business leaders, and with engineers and managers
  • Solid record in mentoring and directing project leaders, with strong skills in making sound decisions for prioritization and project problem solving;
  • Demonstrated history of solid occupational ethics, good track record of working well in engineering team environment.
  • Having adequate product-level knowledge of ultrasound systems and some knowledge in a variety of specialties; some clinical knowledge is a plus. Knowledge and understanding of technical requirements associated with area of work and capable of learning how it relates to the final product
  • PMP or equivalent certified
  • Able to travel (SHA & SZ) and to North America as needed (post-pandemic)
