To build and lead a team of highly skilled technical specialists in China. This is a key role in the Image Guided Therapy (IGT)  Systems business, enabling us to extend our capabilities and position in the China market, offering outstanding solutions in healthcare systems development. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to grow your career as the Director HW Development within our IGT Systems R&D organization.

You are responsible for

You lead a team of highly educated (Bachelor, Master, Ph.D.) mechanical and electrical designers, technical leads and project managers. The work of this team centers on feasibility studies, product development, factory support, maintenance activities and supplier management. Your areas of focus are:

  • Establish a clear vision in line with the IGT Systems strategy.
  • Define group composition including required proficiencies, resources, and skills.
  • Nurture relationships with external partners like suppliers and customers, and internal colleagues like Operations, Customer Service, Procurement, and Marketing.
  • Drive together with Purchasing and Operations the sourcing strategy including make-buy decisions, supplier selection, and contract management.
  • Ensure successful introduction and sustaining of high quality, manufacturable, serviceable, and reliable products.
  • Define and execute process improvement activities.

You are a part of

The IGT Systems Business is responsible for marketing, development, manufacturing, services, and solutions used in the area of cardiac and vascular medical diagnosis and intervention. Our customers are hospitals and their medical specialists.

As a leader you understand hardware development in-depth, with proven experience in complex systems engineering. You also have an affinity for manufacturability and serviceability aspects, and experience with supplier management.

You will be a part of the R&D Management Team, reporting and collaborating directly to the Head of R&D for IGT Systems.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a customer-first attitude and the following

  • Master’s degree or above in a technical domain, preferably Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 10 years of demonstrated ability as a technical leader, expertise within the medical domain will be considered a plus
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment
  • Solid understanding of and proficiency in management tools and procedures for setting and tracking performance, quality, time, and cost
  • Technical skills in software engineering, including platform development and reuse.

Next to this, you master topics like people management, including leadership, conflict resolution, assertiveness, negotiation, and influence management. You understand, track, drill-down, and question activities and issues in all functional areas and make sound decisions based upon that data. You have a consistent track record in organizational change and the ability to handle cultural differences.
