In this role, you will have the opportunity to improve people’s life through meaningful innovation

  • As the hardware and firmware development lead, you will develop Oral Healthcare products, systems and/or solutions with external ODM/OEM suppliers and according to the V-model. Satisfies user and business requirements by applying internal and external research results, and technology advancements, while taking care of the total system and the inner workings of a design.

You are responsible for

  • Manage ODM/OEM projects to ensure that the solution will meet business and product requirements, and the processes are in line with project guidelines, directives, and comply to quality management system.
  • Collaborate with the ODM/OEM suppliers, to develop high-volume consumer medical devices in the oral healthcare domain.
  • Capable of architecting, designing, documenting, and implementing high quality electronics solution on multiple platforms across multiple product ranges. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Define hardware/firmware requirements as specification for ODM/OEM suppliers
    • Hardware development using microcontrollers, battery charging circuits, and BLE radios.
    • Document, manage, and help to define/obtain/refine requirements, design docs, design reviews and verification procedures,
    • Establish consistent ways of working with respect to embedded systems internally and with external suppliers
    • Design and test the modules or components, to ensure that the product meets requirements
    • Understand and communicate boundaries of proposed designs and architecture on the electronics product roadmap.
    • Draw up personal schedule and report on progress, as well as contribute to the planning process of the hardware and/or other subsystem
    • Contribute to the estimation of the required development effort and run-time resources

  • This position is part of the Oral Healthcare team and is based in the Philips Innovation Center in Shenzhen China, with occasional travel to innovation center in Bothell (Seattle, WA), USA.  This position should be capable of drive project execution on accelerating innovations through ODM/OEM partnerships external to Philips.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor/Master degree in computer science, electronical/electronics engineering.
  • 10+ years of relevant working experience, owning/leading hardware/firmware development in projects from idea through implementation.
  • Preferably experience within a regulated industry (medical devices highly desirable, along with knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management, FDA Quality System Regulations, and ISO 13485).
  • Hands-on knowledge of small micro-controllers, analog interfaces, battery charging system and firmware development.
  • Experience in wireless technologies development such as BLE, Wi-Fi, and Zigbee.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills in a multi-discipline engineering project environment, including working with development suppliers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with people globally and all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical problem solving.
  • Demonstrated good technical documentation skills.
  • Fluent in English (both writing and verbal) and preferably fluent in Mandarin.
  • Logical thinking and demonstrated competencies on handling multiple tasks.
  • The desire to work on projects that change people’s lives.
  • Critical eye to detail.
  • Curious and inventive attitude.
